Dan Martin

Solo musician, Dan, studied music in Manchester and lived within the music scene there, playing with various bands in different locations.  Later, he moved, developing his career into that of a solo singer-songwriter.  This guy has finely tuned talent for playing, that you'll want to witness.

Bakelite Blues Band

Celebrating their 10th anniversary this year, the Bakelite Blues is a fantastic band, presenting a mixture of Chicago Blues and standard BB King.  Their many gigs have included in and around Bakewell, Leicester, The Doncaster Blues Circuit, and let's not forget the main music scene, Youlgrave.  This is guaranteed blues bliss.

Olivia

This is a classically trained formidable violinist.  Don't miss this little lady – she'll be on early.  Every single musician around last year was raving about her, experience it for yourself.

Watson

Old Skool style is what this man's about.  His talent reflects the musical genius of Van Morrison and Bob Dylan, amongst many other less well known artists.  This solo act will be a brilliant show.

High Child

Just back from playing the Edinburgh Fringe, and having sold boatloads of their own CDs, these guys should not be missed.  High Child is a fab band with potential and a great line-up for Youlgrave Music Fest.  With all their own material, and a great on-stage energy, this band's talent shines.

Fat Fish

This band carries the genius of Phil Atkinson, who is the best lead guitaristas good as it gets – with his long-term partner, Titch, on the drums.  No band they've ever been involved with has been less than unforgettable.  This is no exception.  They put their own lick on various covers, mixed with their own material.

Gill Bros

This unique duo had the crowd agog at the 2003 Music Fest with their quirky, imaginative Skiffle music, not least the interest generated by their 'homemade' instrument I now learn is called a Stand-up Bass, made of tea chest, a broom handle and what looked like a length of rope (see 2003 on the History page).

Saturday

Reserved for Stewart

This four-piece funk-rock band plays to blow away.  With the title Band of the Year winners already on board, Reserved for Stewart looks set to impress.  The band has been together as they are now for just over a year, gigging in the Sheffield music hotspot, Boardwalk.  Don't miss this great slot!  A hot band with their own material.

Kippered Experience

Influenced by music-greats such as Led Zepplin, Jimi Hendrix, and the more recent Radiohead, this four-piece are more than your average rock band.  Using blues to compliment their style, Kippered Experience are another success at The Boardwalk in Sheffield.  This 2nd prize-winner of Band of the Year is one to watch out for.

Roped In

Having got together for a one-off gig at the Golden Jubilee, this band was roped in to many more gigs – once the name was there, there was no going back.  This band is set to deliver rock 'n' roll as you know it, and love it.  A guaranteed dance not to be missed.

Final Tear

This band has been together for one year and plays gigs in the Chesterfield area.  A three piece, which has much of its own material.  They describe their music as 'rock but not horrible screaming stuff'!

Osca

This band's sound is a unique display of musical talent with indefinite potential.  Together for 18 months, Osca played in the 2003 and 2004 Bakewell Arts Festivals, and have taken the stage in Sheffield's Boardwalk.  Get ready for this band, 'cause they'll hit you hard, and then you'll beg for more.

Sunday

Sally Doherty

Sally Doherty sings from a varied repertoire combining beautiful Jazz ballads and swings with songs from Latin America. As well as standards from composers like Cole Porter and Gershwin, she incorporates bossa novas and sambas from Brazil. Many of these songs were written by Antonio Carlos Jobim. She also includes some Boleros from Cuba.

As a Jazz and Latin performer she is intimate and sensuous but at the same time expressive and passionate. Her inspiration comes from singers such as Chet Baker, Sarah Vaughan, Stacey Kent, Nina Simone, Rosa Passos and Edith Piaf.

The album portrays the beauty and rhythmic richness of Argentine Folk songs combining traditional tunes with Guillermo’s originals). The vocal improvisations and the arrangements reflect the diversity that shapes the music from Argentina, a mosaic of local, European, African and Asian elements. A journey through unexplored zones of the exciting musical landscape of South America, guided by Guillermo and his band. Music and stories that move the body as well as the soul.
